The Department of Education and Training values privacy and is committed to protecting personal information, read the privacy management policy.
Data access
All data that is held by the department including the information that is stored in the data warehouse, its associated data sets and reports, as well as data that sits outside the data warehouse, is covered by the data access policy.
The policy must be read in conjunction with the data access protocol.

Digital applications
The department is committed to the safe and compliant use of digital applications and services (apps) in Northern Territory Government schools. The department supports schools wanting to utilise apps by conducting security and privacy assessments. Where the apps capture personal or sensitive information
a privacy information statement is prepared to inform parents or carers when providing consent to use the app.
The department will be actively engaging schools to identify applications to be assessed as we transition to a future where only approved applications will be in use.

Gifts and benefits
The gifts and benefits policy sets out the department’s expectations of employees, School Representative Bodies and School Management Councils, including their employees in the management and mitigation of risks associated with the acceptance of gifts and benefits.

Reporting of alleged misconduct of a teacher
The department and the Teacher Registration Board must share information about alleged misconduct of teachers in circumstances stated in the Teacher Registration (NT) Act 2004.
