Let’s keep school safe for everyone

Aggressive Behaviour is not allowed in our schools

The wellbeing and safety of children, young people, educators and school staff is a priority in every learning environment in the Northern Territory.

The Let’s Keep School Safe for Everyone campaign helps to promote positive behaviours in Northern Territory Government schools and reduce violence towards educators, school staff and students.

Everyone who works, visits, or learns in our schools has the right to feel safe, supported and respected in their school environment.

We all have a role to play in keeping schools safe for everyone.

For parents, visitors, and volunteers

The Northern Territory Department of Education is committed to keeping schools safe for everyone.

Parents, visitors, and volunteers are valued members of our school communities and help by modelling respectful and positive behaviours in our schools.

Learn what the department’s acceptable and unacceptable behaviours are, and how you can report unacceptable behaviour:

For your school’s local Code of conduct, talk with your school’s principal.

When schools, parents, carers, and families work in partnership children and students are supported to engage, grow, and achieve.

The Family Engagement Charter PDF (184.8 KB) has been developed to underpin the relationship and expectations of how Northern Territory Government schools and families partner in a child’s education.

For more information visit Family Engagement Charter.

For students

The Northern Territory Department of Education is committed to implementing the Australian Student Wellbeing Framework to promote student wellbeing, safety and positive relationships. We want all students to reach their full potential.

All Government schools and early education and care settings will have their own whole school/centre approach to student wellbeing and positive behaviour. This is guided by the policy on Behaviour and wellbeing.

Talk with your school’s principal for more information about your school’s approach to behaviour and wellbeing.

The Framework for Inclusion 2019-29 promotes an environment in Northern Territory Government schools which is inclusive, fair, and focused on delivering learning to meet individual needs. For more information about this 10-year plan for inclusive education in the Northern Territory, visit Framework for Inclusion 2019 - 2029.

For more information about your school’s approach to inclusion, talk with your school’s principal.
