Some of our information has moved to NT.GOV.AU
In this final edition for 2017, we reflect on the progress made over the last three years, highlight some of the key achievements and focus on some of the people who have been making a difference.
The next three years of the Indigenous Education Strategy, Stage 2, will run from 1 January 2018 until 31 December 2020.
Throughout this next phase of the strategy’s implementation we will see a number of programs and initiatives trialled and launched.
We will adopt and even stronger focus on supporting our existing programs to become sustainable and embedded as part of usual business practice.
The 18 actions that make up the next phase of the strategy’s implementation will build on the development work undertaken to date and include the continuation of 14 projects from Stage 1 along with four new projects.
This includes the community engagement, local decision making and community led schools initiatives, which really sets the tone for the way we work with our schools and communities moving forward and I look forward to sharing more about this early next year.
I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the many teachers, students, families, school councils, partners and staff who have been involved with the strategy across the last three years and with the department for many years prior.
I wish you all a very safe and happy start to the New Year and I look forward to continuing our work in 2018.
