Enrolment and attendance data
Northern Territory (NT) Government school sector enrolment and attendance data is reported each term. The results for each term are based on the first 8 weeks of the term.
The enrolment number is the average number of students enrolled each day over the 8-week period.
The attendance rate is the number of school sessions students attend divided by the number of school sessions they are expected to attend during the 8-week period.

Intensive support roll
Students are placed on an intensive support roll (ISR) after they have been absent without notification and/or absent for unacceptable reasons for 20 consecutive school days and the school has not received notification that the student is enrolled in another school. Students while on an ISR are not included in the enrolment and attendance data reported above.
School staff and regionally based student engagement advisors and school attendance officers work in partnership to support students and families to reconnect with education and learning. Re-engaging students who have been out of school for a long time is challenging and often involves multiple government agencies and service providers. Disengaged student may students return to school gradually and inconsistently and can affect overall attendance data.
The number of students on the ISR varies through the year as students are supported to return to school and re-engage in education and learning. ISR data each term for the 4-year period from 2023 to 2026 is provided in the 2026 enrolment and attendance statistics under the enrolment and attendance statistics archive below.
Cycles of engagement and disengagement may occur for a variety of reasons. As part of the intensive case management process, support is maintained for students throughout the re-engagement process, often for prolonged periods of time as staff work with students, family and schools to overcome barriers to attending school.
