School Counselling Service Action Plan 2019-2023

The Department of Education has released the School Counselling Service Action Plan 2019-2023.

The action plan outlines an integrated approach to support students to improve their social and emotional wellbeing so they can successfully engage with education and learn to their potential.

It is focussed on improving the safety and wellbeing of students and ensuring the School Counselling Service is comprehensive, innovative and responsive to the complex needs of students and schools across the Northern Territory.

The Department of Education will consult with principals, school counsellors, school communities and key stakeholders to implement the action plan.

The Department of Education undertook a review of the school counselling service in 2017. As part of the review, consultations were held with school counsellors, teachers, principals and department officers across the Northern Territory. The findings of the study have informed the Action Plan.
