Review of middle schooling
A review of middle schooling in the Northern Territory (NT) was commissioned by the NT government in 2014 to identify opportunities to strengthen the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the middle years of education after the model was introduced eight years ago.
The review included extensive consultation with school principals and teachers, parents and students.
The review report was published in September 2014.
The report contains 25 recommendations across a range of key areas:
- school structure and the learning environment
- curriculum and assessment
- behaviour management
- transition into and from the middle years
- systemic leadership and support.
The recommendations of the review have informed the middle years teaching and learning strategy.
