PECAN+ CTF is the in-person capture the flag (CTF) cyber security competition returning to the NT in 2026.

The competition was founded and led by Edith Cowan University, in collaboration with other universities, TAFEs and the Australian cyber security ecosystem.

Designed for high school students in Years 9 to 12, you will compete nationally to solve challenges in a range of areas, including:

  • cryptography
  • digital forensics
  • open-source intelligence (OSINT)
  • reverse engineering
  • steganography
  • web exploitation.

Put your ethical hacking skills to the test and learn cyber security skills in a fun, practical way!

About the event

The competition is free to enter and will be held in–person in Darwin.

Students can register as a team of 2 to 4 people or sign up individually and be placed into a team on the day.

There are national and NT prizes up for grabs.
