NT teacher recruitment campaign travels international waters to New Zealand
The Department of Education and Training’s Teach in the Territory campaign recently ran in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, attracting almost 400 new registrations from prospective educators.
These events formed part of a wider Northern Territory Government initiative led by the Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations to attract skilled workers to the Territory, with successful engagement supporting the targeted workforce attraction strategy to strengthen our urban, regional and remote schools.
The Director Talent Attraction and Recruitment Kate Little and Assistant Director Regional School Improvement Barkly Region Anthony Stephens represented the department, meeting thousands of attendees to showcase the career opportunities, lifestyle benefits and professional pathways available in Territory schools.
Fourteen teacher leads or expressions of interest have already progressed directly from the events, with follow-up engagement continuing.
The events allowed the department to connect face-to-face with teachers interested in relocating, ranging from those actively seeking immediate opportunities to educators considering a move over the next few years.
It also highlighted the value of corporate and school-based teams working together to attract high-quality educators and strengthen workforce sustainability across Territory schools.
