Milingimbi students gain valuable retail skills
Students at Milingimbi School have taken meaningful steps toward real employment, with a recent cohort successfully completing their Certificate I in Retail Services.
The program has provided students with practical, hands-on skills that directly translate into the workplace, building confidence in customer service, communication and day-to-day retail operations. This nationally recognised qualification is an important first step in helping students explore career pathways and gain a clear understanding of working in the retail industry.
The results have been outstanding, with 10 of the 11 participating students achieving their full qualification. This strong outcome reflects not only the students’ hard work and commitment, but also the dedication and ongoing support of school staff, who played a key role in guiding students through the course and keeping them engaged by demonstrating the real value of these opportunities.
By delivering training aligned with real job opportunities, programs like this are creating clear pathways from school into employment. They are helping young people in remote communities build the skills, experience and confidence needed to transition into the workforce and pursue long-term careers.
