Couch races promoting awareness of youth homelessness
Our Student Attendance and Engagement Programs and Services (SAEPS) team joined some of our Darwin schools and hundreds of Territorians Wednesday 15 April 2026 for the annual Couch Surfing for Youth Homelessness Matters Day.
The SAEPS team hosted an interactive stall, sharing key information about the support the Department of Education and Training provides to help young people attend school and remain connected and engaged in their learning.
“On your marks, get set, go!” was shouted as students raced towards the finish line on their decorative, colourful couches – sparking friendly competition while proudly raising awareness about youth homelessness.
Way to go by Sanderson High School and Top End School of Flexible Learning for their great racing, team spirit and courage in being a part of the change for this real-world issue.
