65 years of learning at Nightcliff Primary School
Nightcliff Primary School marked 65 years since opening its doors on Thursday 17 September 2026, celebrating a proud history of education, community spirit and resilience in one of Darwin’s most iconic coastal suburbs.
Established in 1961, Nightcliff Primary School has grown from 7 classrooms and 240 students to a modern, multicultural school serving more than 500 students and their families.
Nightcliff Primary School continues to lead as a strong education system for the Territory.
In 2026, they are proud to deliver a ‘whole school’ approach to teaching and learning through 4 key foundation strategies:
- focused teaching to equip students for the global economy
- high expectations, supported by extensive feedback to students and parents to encourage continued success
- engaged learning as the gateway to student achievement
- an intentionally inviting environment where all students feel safe, wanted, valued and successful.
To mark the anniversary milestone, past and present students, families, community members and staff came together for an unforgettable evening of reflection as they looked back on the incredible milestones Nightcliff Primary School has achieved.
Acting Chief Executive, Aderyn Chatterton and Acting Deputy Chief Executive Schools, Miranda Watt were proud to attend and be part of the special milestone.
