Sue Trimble recognised for extraordinary impact on Territory education
Congratulations to Gunbalanya School principal, Sue Trimble, who was awarded a Public Service Medal for her outstanding contributions to the Northern Territory education sector recently at a ceremony at Government House.
The Public Service Medal recognises outstanding service by employees of the Australian Government and state, territory and local government employees, and medals to the NT recipients were presented by the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM, Administrator of the Territory.
Sue has been part of the education sector for more than 30 years, serving as a classroom teacher, principal, and leader of the System for School Improvement team. Her dedication to improving student outcomes and commitment to mentoring staff and emerging leaders has set a remarkable standard for excellence in teaching and leadership, and had a significant positive impact on the Gunbalanya School community.
Sue is incredibly honoured to be a recipient of the Public Service Medal.
“I am very humbled and proud to be recognized for my public service in education. I reflect on how privileged I have been to have had a career that has taken me across many parts of the NT. To work with fabulous students and families, staff and colleagues,” she said.
Contributing to the lives of students and families has always been a key motivator for Sue. She cherishes the opportunities that her work has led her to and the people she has worked with along the way.
“Having strong leadership around me throughout my career has enabled strong problem solving, creativity and opportunities to make a difference. Working in a co-principalship model with a strong School Board deepened by cultural knowledge and responsiveness of which I am forever grateful,” she said.
Thank you, Sue, for your amazing work in education. We look forward to watching your inspirational leadership for years to come.
