Celebrating young artists at the Exit Art awards

Published

Each year the department in partnership with the Museum and Art Gallery Northern Territory celebrates the talent and creativity of young artists at the Exit Art awards ceremony.

Art as part of education is an important way for young people to channel creativity and express individuality while showcasing their talents continues to support its inclusion in schools.

A broad range of mediums, from photography, film, painting and mixed media displayed the best in contemporary art and design, illustrating not only the mature level of artistic ability in our Year 12 students, but also the sophisticated arts education streams they have access to. Themes across the diverse range of artworks included self-identity, culture, fantasy, politics and the environment.

Local band LUNARIOT entertained with their impressive range of covers while students, families, educators and dignitaries gathered to see the awards ceremony, and following, the artworks.
