Sky’s the limit for Galiwin’ku graduates

A small group of women from Arnhem Land are doing their community proud after recently completing a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, and Certificate I in Workplace Skills.

Six of the graduates work at Shepherdson College in Galiwin’ku across early years and middle school, and are part of the department’s Remote Aboriginal Teacher Education program.

Donning bright graduation gowns, the young women were celebrated as part of a ceremony at Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE) earlier this month.

The graduates are proud members of the Galiwin’ku Child Circle, a tight-knit group made up of local organisations who work with children in the community. Together they support Aboriginal women to complete their Certificate III, Diploma and Bachelor studies in Early Childhood Education and Care through BIITE.

While in Darwin recently, the graduates attended a morning tea to celebrate and share their stories and certificates with colleagues.

Congratulations to these graduates, your hard work and dedication has paid off!
