Jilkminggan School’s FaFT group adventures

Jilkminggan School’s Families as First Teachers group celebrated strong family engagement with a Darwin trip, enjoying activities like drumming and crocodile encounters.

Last week Jilkminggan School’s Families as First Teachers (FaFT) group embarked on a trip to Darwin as a celebration of the great family attendance and participation of the school program.

The FaFT program acknowledges the important role families play as their child’s first teacher. Educators deliver quality early learning and parent support programs to engage families and communities, and build parents’ capacity to give their children the best start in life.

While in Darwin, educators, students and parents embarked on many fun activities, including holding a crocodile at the Crocosaurus Cove!

Before heading home, they visited Ludmilla Primary School to participate in a FaFT drumming lesson led by a skilled practitioner. Students and families learnt new musical skills while learning more about wellbeing and positive emotional connections.

A terrific example of our Territory school’s working together to achieve the best outcomes for their students and families.
