Highlighting outstanding early childhood educators and services
At this year’s Northern Territory Education and Care Awards, Bronwyn Fielding, Rachel Jericho and Clyde Fenton Long Day Care have been awarded different honours for their unwavering commitment to nurturing the development of children in the Territory.
Family as First Teachers’ (FaFT) Family Liaison Officer Bronwyn claimed the Outstanding Aboriginal Educator award, for not only showing an outstanding commitment to her professional development, but also others’ ongoing learning to deliver a quality and consistent FaFT program. She has also helped children transition from FaFT to a preschool setting.
The Outstanding Early Childhood Teacher award was won by Larapinta Child and Family Centre teacher Rachel, whose passion for holistic early learning has left a significant mark on her students and their education and wellbeing. Her knowledge of early childhood pedagogy and genuine care for her students has allowed her to create seamless transitions into school settings.
Clyde Fenton Long Day Care was bestowed the Outstanding Education and Care Program award, recognising their exceptional trauma-informed practices to foster holistic development in children. This includes a play therapist and therapy dog on site, trauma-informed language, understanding of neurodevelopment and clinical supervision. They also operate both a government preschool and long day care for children aged 3 to 5 years old.
