Gunbalanya young leaders shine bright at National Youth Leadership Summit

Published

Four senior students from Gunbalanya School took the stage at the National Youth Leadership Summit in Sydney, showing an extraordinary display of young leadership.

This trip also marked the girls’ first interstate experience, travelling from their remote West Arnhem community to the hustle-and-bustle of Australia’s largest city.

With incredible determination, the girls planned, practiced and captured a room of 250 young people from 10 countries with their rich culture.

They shared stories about their country including the seasons, culture and the kinship system, as well as their family connections, the art of hunting and gathering, and the beauty of living on West Arnhem Stone Country.

For these girls, this week-long adventure wasn’t just a new experience, new faces and new places, it was a new challenge that helped them grow as leaders of tomorrow.

This journey has been a testament to the girls’ personal growth with their ability to inspire, educate and uplift others through storytelling, and the power of education and opportunities that nurture leadership skills in young people.
