Larrakeyah Primary School Teacher Carmel Spruhan, Principal Fathma Mauger and Senior Teacher Head of Curriculum and Assessment Danni Mattiazzo attended the 2023 Australian Teaching Awards in Sydney, putting their school and the Territory on a national platform.

Larrakeyah Primary School was nominated for Best Use of Technology, Ms Spruhan was in the running for Primary Teacher of the Year and Ms Danni Mattiazzo was put up for the award of Head of Department of the Year.

While they didn’t win this time around, being finalists for the awards in 3 categories is a great accomplishment in itself. Last year the school took home a win with the Best STEM Program.

“I am a teacher amongst many but to be nominated for such an esteemed award has given me an inner glow of happiness. It is an honour which I do not take lightly”, Ms Spruhan said.
