UnCovered - NT Music School Songwriting Competition

UnCovered presents an exciting songwriting initiative open to all students attending NT Government Schools across the Territory.

Generously sponsored by Focusrite Australia, Novation, Rock City Music Alice Springs, and Top End Music Centre Darwin, UnCovered offers over $8000 worth of prizes to be won.

NT Music School will host a series of workshops during the first half of the year. These sessions, available in-person or online, will offer insights into songwriting techniques, copyright laws, work registration, and recording methods, benefiting both students and teachers alike.

Later in the year, students will have the opportunity to showcase their musical talents and gain live performance experience at a series of all-ages gigs. These events aim to expose budding musicians to a wider audience and foster a supportive community for their artistic endeavors.

UnCovered is more than just a competition; it's a gateway to the vibrant world of music, nurturing creativity, collaboration, and the exploration of new talent.

Participants can compete in three distinct categories:

1. Contemporary Melodic: This category encompasses songs with lyrics in contemporary forms such as Metal, Country, Rock, Pop, R&B, and more.
2. Instrumental: Participants can submit predominantly instrumental compositions, which may include minimal lyrics or vocal effects. Think Game Music, Surf Guitar, Contemporary Classical, Electronic Dance Music, and beyond.
3. Rap and Rhyme: From Rap to Trap, Hip Hop to Drill, this category celebrates music that revolves around rhythmic rhymes and beats.

Exciting prizes await the winners across all categories, making UnCovered a must-join event for aspiring musicians.
