Great Start Great Future - Northern Territory Early Years Strategic Plan 2016-2020
The Northern Territory (NT) recognises the importance of the early years (before birth up to age eight) in shaping a child's health, education and wellbeing outcomes.
Great Start Great Future provides a stronger, co-ordinated approach to early childhood education and care with a focus on health, learning and wellbeing.
The plan builds on the NT Government’s existing focus and commitment to early childhood education and care to:
- provide quality services that enhance children’s health and wellbeing
- deliver quality learning programs to improve the development of children in the NT
- increase the capacity of families and communities to care for their children and respond to their health, development, safety and wellbeing needs
- deliver a quality service system which fosters integrated services delivered by a qualified, supported, local workforce.
