Dancers ready for stellar shows

Alice Can Dance will showcase the choreography of students from 12 schools.

A major event on the Alice Springs arts’ calendar, the event is an exhibition of modern dance orchestrated by Guts Dance.

Alice Can Dance 2021 – In Colour will depict a complexion of global hope and beauty in a sometimes uncertain world.

Guts Dance co-founder Frankie Snowdon said students’ dancing is being framed around “colours they’ve been exploring”.

“For instance, Sadadeen Primary School is focusing on yellow, so we ask the students how the colour makes them feel, how it looks, tastes, smells, and what movements remind them of yellow,” he said.

“We focus on dance involving expression, imagination, and the mastery of complex and interesting actions.

“Alice Can Dance targets creativity through movement, builds teamwork, and promotes the bravery needed to learn a new skill and perform before an audience.”

The Araluen Arts Centre shows are scheduled for 5pm and 7pm, Wednesday 22 September.
