Luke is fun and fitness Boon
Students became serious skippers when world champion rope jumper Luke Boon made a stopover at Katherine-based Clyde Fenton Primary School on 5 December.
The young celebrity is on a mission to provide fitness experiences to people of all ages, genders and proficiencies.
"The jump rope is the best fitness tool on the planet,” he said. “Like everything else you do in life, it's powered by you."
The school’s health and physical education teacher Amy Buick organised student workshops with the titleholder.
"I am so impressed how quickly our students have improved their skipping skills,” she said. “They have loved learning new tricks, and rope skipping is definitely an activity we are keen to do more of in the future."
Principal Jeff Parker said Luke Boon demonstrated the achievements made possible by the use of personal drive.
"Luke's visit included a range of fun activities, but it also highlighted how goals can be realised by the application of enterprise and determination," he said.
