Challenged by the Duke
Isabel Blundell has collected the Gold Award in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
The scheme is a youth development project that empowers Australians aged 14 to 24 to explore their full potential and find their purpose, passion and place in the world.
The Year 12 Nhulunbuy High School student received the tribute at the National Gold Award Ceremony in Sydney, and in the presence of HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
Her award-winning self-imposed challenges comprised the ancient spiritual journey of the Camino De Santiago Pilgrimage in France, hiking up snowy mountains, and a missionary trip to India to teach and encourage children in their faith.
Nhulunbuy High School teacher Don Mckinnon said: “Isabel has demonstrated commitment, diligence, focus, long-term engagement and problem solving throughout the award levels.
"The school salutes Isabel for her stellar achievement."
