Building positive youth culture together

Senior students from two Darwin schools intent on nurturing a positive youth culture met at the Collaboration 4 Change forum on 3 December.

The Year 10 and 11 students from Darwin High School and Casuarina Senior College broached issues ranging from social leadership and values, to a shared vision and priorities for driving change in 2019.

The topics examined included personal responsibility, open mindedness, inclusivity, respect and identity, influences and pressures, happiness and the impact of social media.

It was an opportunity for the attendees to identify the strengths and weaknesses of young people, the need to change any negative perceptions in their schools and the community, and to generate ideas and solutions to problems through frank discussions in a large group.
