At an event, held at Casuarina Senior College, the top 21 students were recognised, including Aaron Berthon (99.55) from Darwin High School who was not only ranked as the top student in the Northern Territory in 2016, but also received A+ Merits in Mathematical Studies and Physics.

The top students came from six Territory schools, including:

  • eight top 20 students from Darwin High School;
  • five from The Essington School Darwin;
  • two from Marrara Christian College
  • two from Casuarina Senior College;
  • one from Katherine High School; and
  • two from St Phillip’s College in Alice Springs.

The number of Indigenous Year 12 students to complete the NTCET has also increased from 187 in 2015 to 221 in 2016. The top Indigenous student was Marcus Valastro (92.95) from Darwin High School.

These results are an indication of the hard work, dedication and focus of our year 12 students. The results are also testament to the huge effort of our high quality teachers and support staff who work tirelessly to help Territory students to achieve the best results.
