Dual graduation at Ramingining
Members of the Ramingining community gathered for two ceremonies marking the graduation of early years’, middle and senior years’ students.
On 4 December, about 280 attendees witnessed Families as First Teachers children transition to preschool, and the move to Transition by preschool students.
On 6 December, an estimated 380 people celebrated the migration of Year 6 students to secondary levels, and the graduation of Year 12 student Jeffrey Malibirr.
Family groups at the milestone events performed a traditional song and dance as they collected their children’s graduation certificates.
Ramingining School principal Sue McAvoy said the commemorations were a “reflection of cultural interaction” and an occasion at which “families displayed their unique ceremonial dresses”.
“Jeffrey Malibirr, our special needs student, completed his schooling and was given his own portable swimming pool from the school council as a graduation gift.”
