Nhulunbuy takes out national award
Congratulations to Nhulunbuy High School on receiving the Adolescent Success National Award for the Most Innovative Use of Space in a School Setting.
The award recognises how a space has had a positive influence on the education of adolescent learners, and how the space conforms to quality middle years’ pedagogy.
Nhulunbuy High School has embraced the notion of creating modern learning environments, with the inclusion of culturally located learning spaces. The school has three shelters, one for men's business, one for women's business, and one for sharing stories.
These culturally located areas align with the pedagogy adopted and implemented as part of the Work like the Best - Middle Years and Teaching Strategy 2016 - 2018 and the A Share in the Future - Indigenous Education Review Implementation 2015 - 2024.
As part of the award, Nhulunbuy High School has received a 12-month membership to Adolescent Success, a free registration to attend the Adolescent Success 2017 Conference, and an article on their innovative use of space to be published in the Australian Journal of Middle Schooling.
