Darwin High joins ASEAN BRIDGE

Darwin High School has joined with Le Quy Don Lower Secondary School in Vietnam to become part of the Australia-ASEAN BRIDGE School Partnerships Project .

The project connects Australian teachers, students and school communities with their ASEAN counterparts.

Darwin High School Business/IT teacher Matthew Atfield said the program will enrich Australian teachers’ comprehension of Asia.

“Australia-ASEAN BRIDGE will promote intercultural understanding, improve Asian language skills, new approaches to the use of digital technologies in the classroom, establish sustainable school partnerships and communities of learners,” he said.

The association was highlighted by the recent visit to Darwin High School of Nhon Hyunh Thanh, a teacher at Le Quy Don Lower Secondary School.

“Nhon is impressed by the multicultural environment of teaching and learning at Darwin High School, the professionalism of our teachers, and our ongoing aspiration to excellence,” Mr Atfield said.

“We look forward to nurturing this association, which we are confident will profoundly benefit the teachers and students of both schools.

“I will visit Vietnam for 10 days later this year, examining school life and Vietnamese culture.”
